This tool is designed for the damage-free installation of flexible multi-ribbed belts on specific diesel engines. Flexible belt drives in these engines do not require an idler, but proper assembly demands a dedicated tool to ensure correct mounting without causing belt damage. The tool is used during belt replacement or engine maintenance procedures where the multi-ribbed belt must be installed or reinstalled.

It is suitable for use on a range of light commercial vehicles and passenger cars equipped with particular diesel engines from Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Mitsubishi, and Peugeot. The tool is applied when working on the belt drive system, especially where the engine design omits a traditional idler pulley.
