The BGS Technic 9948 contact soldering iron with a curved tip is a high-quality and efficient DIY+ class device designed for joining metal elements by soldering them with a tin-lead soft soldering alloy. This simply constructed tool operates almost flawlessly, and with proper tip maintenance, it will serve you for many years. The soldering iron is suitable for soldering copper wires, basic electronic components, and wires up to 6mm².
Tip maintenance recommendations: Overheating and mechanical damage can quickly destroy the protective layer. If the tip oxidizes, melting solder can become problematic. Solder will no longer melt and stick to the tip; instead, it will ball up and fall off. We recommend applying a small amount of tin, for example, brass shavings, to the tip when heating the soldering iron for the first time, and then removing any excess. The tin layer formed in this way will protect the tip from oxidation. We advise tinning the tip every time you finish work.
